Coach USA sale to The Renco Group finalized; will have no impact on commuters

Coach USA has completed its sale to The Renco Group Inc., following the company’s June Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Company officials said the deal stabilizes the company’s financial foundation and assures uninterrupted operations for its 53 commuter routes in New Jersey and New York.

Coach USA’s key commuter lines, including Community Bus Lines, Suburban Transit, Rockland Coaches and Olympia Trails, will maintain regular schedules without any route eliminations.

Dan Rodriguez, Vice President of Public Affairs at Coach USA, assured customers of the company’s commitment to continuity.

“All routes will continue with none being eliminated,” Rodriguez said. “All buses will be branded Coach USA, and, when necessary, will undergo extensive refurbishment to ensure top service quality.”

The acquisition also includes additional Coach USA lines such as Dillon’s, Elko, Megabus Retail, Montreal, Olympia, and Trentway/Ontario (including Megabus Canada), as well as other assets. The Megabus brand and retail operations are also part of the transaction.

“With a solid financial foundation, we are ready to drive growth and enhance service quality,” Coach USA CEO Derrick Waters said in a statement. “The Renco Group brings resources and expertise to help us invest in fleet upgrades, new technologies, and service improvements, providing a modern, efficient travel experience for our passengers.”

In related transactions, affiliates of AVALON Transportation LLC acquired Coach USA’s Lenzner, Kerrville, All West, and ACL Atlanta lines, while Wynne Transportation affiliates took ownership of Powder River and Butler Motor Transit’s body shop in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Coach USA, a major provider of commuter and charter bus services, is assuring passengers that they will see no disruption in service and can continue to book trips and access schedules as usual.
