ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Five members of the United Motorcoach Association board of directors have been re-elected and two new members have been tapped to join the board.
Board members who were re-elected are:
- Region I (the West): Tom Ready, former owner of Ready Bus Lines in La Crescent, Minn.
- Region II (the Midwest): Brian Annett, owner of Annett Bus Lines in Sebring, Fla.
- Region III (the Northeast): Joan Libby, owner/operator of Cavalier Coach Trailways in Boston, and Tim Stout, president of Stout’s Transportation in Trenton, N.J.
- Region IV (Canada): Larry Hundt, owner of Great Canadian Holiday & Coaches in Kitchener, Ontario
In Region I, John Grzywacz, owner of CIT Signature Transportation (CIT Charters) in Ames, Iowa, was elected to the second open seat on the board. Also running for the seat were Tom Giddens, owner of Pacific Coastways Charter Services, Inc., in Garden Grove, Calif., and Jeff Rogers, co-owner of First Class Tours, Inc., in Houston.
In Region II, James Brown Sr., owner/operator of Magic Carpet Tours Bus Service in Richmond, Va., was elected to replace incumbent board member Ralph Young, chairman of Young Transportation in Asheville, N.C. Brown has previously served on the board.
In Region III, first-time candidate Scott Riccio, owner/president/founder of NorthEast Charter & Tour Co. in Lewiston, Maine, competed in the race for two open seats.
In Region IV, Hundt ran unopposed.
Nineteen members of the 21-member UMA board are regional directors who must be coach operators and who are elected to three-year staggered terms from the three regions of the U.S., plus a single director elected from Canada.
In addition, there are non-coachbuilder and coachbuilder associate-board representatives who also serve three-year terms. Neither of those members was up for re-election this year.
