Pennslyvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is among the many congratulating the Pennsylvania Bus Association on marking a century of advocating for the state’s motorcoach and bus industry.
The state’s highest elected official celebrated PBA with a proclamation, noting the following:
“Since its inception, the PBA has functioned tirelessly without interruption and with a commitment to the safety of the traveling public and the economic well-being of its member companies at the forefront. The PBA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to representing the business and governmental interests of private bus companies operating in Pennsylvania – all while addressing the needs of the motorcoach industry as well as ensuring the highest level of quality services for customers. The PBA’s contributions have been enumerable to our Commonwealth, and I am confident this organization will continue to make a positive impact for many years to come.”
The recognition is an honor for PBA and the industry as it continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought much of passenger ground transportation to halt for more than a year, resulting in more than half the companies shuttering, noted PBA Chair Tammy Wolf-Baker, of Wolf’s Bus Lines.
“The fact that he is recognizing the Pennsylvania Bus Association is an honor. The bus industry went unnoticed during Covid and suffered tremendously, and it is nice to see there is support out there for us after everything we’ve been through,” Wolf-Baker said.
Festivities throughout the year
Founded in 1923, PBA has functioned without interruption and with an unrelenting commitment to the safety of the traveling public and the economic well-being of its member companies.
PBA is marking the milestone with a yearlong celebration that kicked off in State College during PBA’s 2022 Annual Conference. More celebrations are planned throughout 2023, including a Spring Fling weekend at the Bus Museum of Transportation in Hershey, Pennsylvania; PBA Marketplace in Morgantown, Pennsylvania; and PBA’s Annual Meeting and Conference in Jamestown, New York.
PBA is a nonprofit group dedicated to representing the business and governmental interests of private bus companies operating in Pennsylvania.
The membership includes motorcoach operators, companies servicing the industry, and travel suppliers. Governmental affairs, advocacy, travel and tourism marketing, education, safety and communication are the major areas of involvement for the group, one of the oldest public passenger transportation associations in the United States.
