In response to the growing demand for affordable and convenient travel, Greyhound has introduced a fleet of 60 new buses.
The company, the largest intercity bus service provider in North America and a Flix North America brand, said this new fleet consists of 40 Prevost and 20 Van Hool buses, which serve high-traffic routes such as New York to Boston and Philadelphia.
This expansion is part of Greyhound’s multi-year initiative to upgrade hundreds of buses, aiming to become a top choice for budget-conscious, eco-friendly travelers.
“The new Greyhound fleet includes Prevost and Van Hool buses, both known for their focus on quality and passenger comfort,” said Rodney Surber, Greyhound’s chief operating officer.
“This fleet upgrade is part of a broader, long-term strategy to modernize Greyhound’s buses and improve the travel experience for our customers,” Surber said. “Over the next few years, our goal is to roll out hundreds of upgraded buses that set a new standard for comfort, reliability, and safety in intercity bus travel.”
New comfort, safety features
The 40 Prevost and 20 Van Hool buses bring a host of premium features aimed at enhancing comfort, including ergonomic seating with lumbar support, footrests, and anti-microbial materials. Passengers will find free WiFi and 12V outlets at every seat. Interior upgrades also include new flooring, quieter cabins, and an advanced HVAC system that filters air multiple times per hour.
The new buses also feature advanced safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation technology, and on-board cameras for added security.
“Safety is the cornerstone of Greyhound’s operations, and our new fleet is built with that in mind,” Surber said. “ This investment shows Greyhound’s commitment to offering a secure and reliable travel experience.”
Greyhound’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in the fleet’s clean diesel technology, which aims to reduce emissions and boost fuel efficiency.
“Each bus in this upgraded fleet is powered by clean-diesel, low-emission engines that significantly reduce the environmental footprint of each trip,” Surber said. “This focus on sustainability is part of our bigger mission to provide a greener travel option for millions of passengers, helping reduce carbon emissions on our roads.”
These new buses will allow Greyhound to serve more routes and provide a better, more consistent travel experience, Surber said.
“By investing in a modern, comfortable, and eco-friendly fleet, we’re strengthening our position as the top-of-mind choice for travelers seeking an affordable and sustainable way to get to their destinations,” he said. “As more people seek alternatives to driving and flying, Greyhound is ready to meet that demand with improved services and expanded connectivity across North America.”
