Hours-of-service violations are turning up in about half a percent of driver inspections under the electronic logging device mandate that took effect in December of 2017, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration reports.
Since the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance began hard enforcement of the mandate in April 2018, logging device violations, operating without an ELD or grandfathered Automatic On-Board Recording Device (AOBRD), have been found in 30,082 of 3.6 million driver inspections.
HOS violations were found in .55 percent of inspections across the country in April, down from 1.19 percent in December 2017 and .69 percent in April 2018.
