Meet the mechanic behind Timi’s Tours bus videos

Timi’s Tours has been generating buzz online with captivating bus fleet videos, shot using drones and gyro-stabilized cameras.

Behind the lens is Jon Furtado, the company’s Regional Maintenance Director, who has turned his hobby of videography into a way to highlight the company’s operations.

Furtado’s latest video captured Timi’s Tours’ nine of the company’s 25 motorcoach fleet transporting freshmen from the University of Southern Indiana to New Harmony, a small historic town in Southern Indiana, as part of an orientation activity.

“We do these videos every year,” Furtado said. “For this one, we set up a service truck with a DJI Osmo Pocket 2, a gyro-stabilized camera, and used the truck as a film truck. We also had a drone up, capturing footage from above.”

Furtado’s videos have garnered attention on Timi’s Tours’ social media, including Facebook, where they’ve received praise.

“Timi’s Tours is proud of our rapidly growing footprint, including the partnerships we have secured with revered organizations like The University of Southern Indiana and many others,” said Jack Kaufman, vice president of the Moweaqua, Illinois-based company.

“Our commitment to fleet quality and hospitality is what sets us apart. We have an amazing team, including our detailers, maintenance team, operations staff, and motor coach operators, who will be the brand’s smiling face when we arrive. Without their dedication and hard work, we would never be where we are today.”

Showing off his fleet

While Furtado creates the content primarily for fun, the videos also showcase the fleet’s look and operation.

“It’s really about showing what Timi’s Tours does, how we do it, and taking pride in the fleet by showcasing the buses in action,” he said.

In addition to the University of Southern Indiana video, Furtado has created content for other company events, including a trip to pick up new buses from the Prevost factory in Quebec. The footage from that trip is also available on Timi’s Tours’ Facebook page, and Furtado continues to film various projects using his personal videography gear.

“I bought all this stuff as a hobby because I travel a lot, and I like to put the drone up in different countries and get footage,” Furtado shared. “It’s just something I enjoy doing.”

Furtado also has a TikTok presence under his handle @jonfurtado, where he posts bus videos and other random clips, and a YouTube channel, Furtado Coach Works, dedicated to bus repair tutorials.

Furtado grew up in the bus industry. His father owned a bus company until it closed 2012. Since 2018, Furtado has operated his own business focused on repairs, traveling across the country and working with Timmy’s Tours as their Regional Maintenance Director for Indiana and Illinois.

Furtado sees creating bus videos as a way to showcase the fleet and build excitement and appreciation for the industry.

“It’s just a fun way to show what we’re all about.”
