Star Shuttle honored for traffic safety excellence by National Safety Council

Star Shuttle & Charter has been recognized for its commitment to traffic safety, receiving a Safety Award from the National Safety Council (NSC) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

“We are delighted to receive this important Safety Award from the National Safety Council and Texas Department of Transportation,” said John Walker, CEO of Star Shuttle. “We would like to thank UMA (United Motorcoach Association), IMG (International Motorcoach Group), TxDOT, and the NSC for all of their safety training resources that have been made available to us.”

The award reflects Star Shuttle’s dedication to implementing safe driving policies and investing in education and training programs.

‘On the Road to Zero’

“This is a great example of the private and public sectors working together to improve highway safety,” said Savannah Fernandez, Director of Risk, Safety and Training at Star Shuttle. “This award was made possible by a team effort including senior management, our trainers, dispatchers, and monitors, all of whom have whole-heartedly participated in our safety program and our 24/7 driver safety monitoring program.”

Katie Mueller, NSC’s Senior Program Manager, said the award signifies the high standards that are promoted through the Our Driving Concern program.

“We’re proud to call these Texas employers safety leaders and partners on the Road to Zero,” Mueller said. “That’s zero crashes, zero injuries and zero fatalities – our ultimate goal. They have implemented evidence-based policies and comprehensive workplace safety programs. They’re saving money and saving lives. They’re proof that road safety is good for business and good for people.”

The Texas Department of Transportation reported a 2.8% decrease in traffic fatalities in 2023.

The Our Driving Concern awards, presented at the TxDOT Traffic Safety Conference in Austin, recognize employers from various industries for their commitment to traffic safety.
