Thrasher Brothers Trailways expands fleet with new Prevost coaches

For more than 50 years, the Thrasher family has built a legacy in the motorcoach industry, evolving from a small fleet to a recognized name in transportation. That legacy is entering a new chapter as Thrasher Brothers Trailways expands its fleet with two new 2025 Prevost H3-45 motorcoaches.

The purchase is part of the Birmingham, Alabama-based company’s modernization and rebranding efforts, reflecting its commitment to providing high-quality service while staying ahead in a competitive industry.

“The Prevost team is honored that Thrasher Brothers Trailways chose us to support them,” said François Tremblay, president of Prevost and Volvo Group Canada. “Their decision to invest in the H3-45 highlights our commitment to building coaches that set the standard for quality and reliability.”

Redesigned in 2023, the Prevost H3-45 boasts a sleek, aerodynamic profile, 12% greater fuel efficiency, and a 50% reduction in wind noise in the driver area. The model’s reputation for innovation and reliability was a major factor in Alan Thrasher’s decision to invest in Prevost.

“Prevost has stepped up and truly delivered as the leader in the market,” said Thrasher, president of Thrasher Brothers Trailways. “Their buses are not only the highest quality but represent the future of this industry.”

Well-considered purchase

Thrasher and his sister, Alyce T. Davidson, purchased the company from their father, Jim Thrasher, in 2007. Jim Thrasher, a pioneer in the entertainer coach industry, began operating seated buses in 1971.

Alan Thrasher made the purchase decision more than a year ago, carefully watching industry trends before moving forward.

“I went with my gut feeling,” he said. “I watched social media, seeing companies nationwide taking delivery of H3-45s and raving about it. I called and asked questions. I could have backed out several times over the year, but my instinct was telling me to keep moving along with the purchasing process.”

Another factor in Thrasher’s decision was Prevost’s extensive service network. With a Prevost service center in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Thrasher can rely on maintenance and support for its growing fleet.

For Thrasher, the company’s success comes down to strong values and relationships.

“You’ve got to have God, family, friends, and good business associates,” he said. “That’s how we’ve grown and how we’ll continue to grow.”
