Daimler Coaches North America has delivered 15 additional Mercedes-Benz Tourrider Premium motorcoaches to Yankee Line, making the Boston-based travel operator the first in the United States to operate a fleet of 50 Tourriders.
Designed specifically for the North American market and introduced in 2022, the three-axle Tourrider is offered in two versions: the Business model for high-end needs and the Premium model for first-class travel.
Yankee Line received its first Tourriders in December 2022.
“The sophisticated comfort and safety standards, along with the ‘wow’ factor our customers experience when boarding the Mercedes-Benz Tourrider, fully meet our expectations as a premium tour operator,” said Yankee Line owner

The company, which has been providing luxury charter and tour services for 45 years, operates from hubs in Boston and New York City, serving destinations across the U.S. and Canada.
Dr. Thomas Rohde, CEO and president of Daimler Coaches North America, emphasized the strong partnership between the companies, which began with the Tourrider’s debut in February 2022.
“We are delighted to support Yankee Line’s mission to provide a unique experience for every passenger with our innovative products,” Rohde said.

Fully equipped
The newly acquired Tourriders offer seating configurations with full-leather seats for 46, 50, or 56 passengers. Each coach is equipped with a TopSky panoramic roof, a rear kitchenette, a 360-degree camera, and an automatic lift system for wheelchair accessibility.
The Tourrider includes the latest safety technology, such as the Active Brake Assist 5 emergency braking system, which detects stationary and moving obstacles, including pedestrians, and can automatically bring the vehicle to a complete stop.

Other safety systems include Sideguard Assist, which alerts drivers to pedestrians and cyclists on the vehicle’s right side, and Attention Assist, which detects signs of driver fatigue or inattentiveness and issues visual and audible warnings.
The Tourrider is powered by the Mercedes-Benz OM 471 in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 450 horsepower (336 kW) and 1,550 pound-feet (2,300 Nm) of torque. It features common-rail direct injection with X-Pulse high-pressure injection, charge air cooling, exhaust gas recirculation, and SCR technology. Power is transmitted through the Allison WTB 500R six-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter, a system proven in North American operations.
Daimler Coaches North America will showcase the Tourrider at two upcoming industry events, including the United Motorcoach Association EXPO in Oklahoma City from Feb. 20-23.
